Ian Heisters uses dance, choreography, interactive installation, and data as media for playing with issues around community and human intimacy. He has worked with artists including Anna Halprin, Camille Utterback, Surabhi Saraf, and Mary Franck, and has executed commercial projects with Stamen, Pivotal Labs, Stimulant, and others. His work has been shown at The Asian Art Museum, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, The Berkeley Art Museum, Shot Tower Gallery, Stern Grove, and a variety of other local and national venues, and is permanently installed in a number of private collections. A native of The California Bay Area, he is currently based in Berkeley, California, where he tries to spend as much time as possible in the outdoors with his wife and son.
