Tiffany Apczynski

Tiffany Apczynski is Director of Public Affairs and Social Responsibility at Zendesk. She joined the company in 2010 as the company’s blog editor and originated her current role, which she’s held since 2012. Zendesk was the first tech company to move to San Francisco’s Mid-Market neighborhood, an area of the city known for its high crime, drug use, and poverty rates. Since 2011, more tech companies have moved to this neighborhood because of a tax incentive known as the Mid-Market Payroll Tax Exclusion. It is better known as the Twitter tax break. With that, Tiffany drafted and executed San Francisco’s very first Community Benefits Agreement with the city of San Francisco, a requirement of this tax incentive. Drafting this document gave her the opportunity to then draft Zendesk’s global social responsibility strategy. In her previous life as a journalist, she covered the Tenderloin and Mid-Market neighborhood for four years as a reporter with the San Francisco Examiner.
