Ekene Ijeoma is a person, designer and developer. His work explores the artistic and humanistic properties and values of data through design and research. Using data as materials, he has painted and sculpted products and experiences in media, objects, installations and spaces. His award-winning projects have been exhibited at the Design Museum in London, Istanbul Design Biennial, Vignelli Center in Rochester, Salone del Mobile in Milan, and more.
He was awarded scholarships to study Information Technology at Rochester Institute of Technology (BS) and Interaction Design at Domus Academy (MFA). Ekene has also been awarded grants for artist residencies at Ace Hotel and Fabrica. He has been a visiting artist at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond and School for Poetic Computation in New York City. He has lectured in Parsons Design and Technology (BFA) in New York City and critiqued in Yale Graphic Design (MFA).
He currently works at Bloomberg Graphics designing information graphics. Previously, he has worked with Wolff Olins, Pentagram, Google Creative Lab and more. His project with Hyperakt, The Refugee Project, was recently nominated for Design Museum’s Designs of the Year 2015 award.
